Park Lighting & Furniture has been in business in the Edmonton region for over 30 years. We recognize that our success is a direct result of the strong support we have received from our community. That is why we have made giving back to the community a top priority. Whether it is donating $50,000 to Rehoboth for 50 heads shaved at the grand opening of the new store, or donating an entire day's sales to a special cause, we hold many charities close to our hearts and will continue to help those in need in the future.
In recent tradition we have donated an entire day's sales once a month for four months of the year. Typically, two of the chosen charities have a local focus, while the other two focus on aiding the global community. "We choose charities that are very dear to our hearts," says co-owner, Betty Johannesen.
The success of these Charity Days has continued to rise over the years. For example, on November 15, 2014 Park Lighting & Furniture had a record sales day of $60,637.06; 100% of these sales went to the World Renew: Iraqi Refugee Support.
Together with our sister store in Calgary, Cartwright Lighting & Furniture, our Charity Day proceeds have gone to charities that:
Provide food, shelter and support to the homeless in our local communities
Help feed hungry kids and youth through a school hot-lunch program
Serve people with disabilities by making room for them and enabling them to flourish
Provide disaster and crisis response services, both locally and globally
Work towards ending world hunger and ensuring all people receive basic life necessities
Commit themselves to ending the cycle of global poverty through education, microfinancing and promoting gender equality
We could not do this without the loyal support of our local community!
